Digital marketing agency Moburst acquires Uproar PR
ORLANDO, FL: Digital marketing agency Moburst has acquired Orlando-based PR firm Uproar PR, effective on Friday.
The deal strengthens the capabilities of Moburst and Uproar, creating a more comprehensive suite of services for clients, Moburst said in a statement. The combination will allow both agencies to provide services including marketing strategy for digital, mobile apps and social media; services for sites and apps; earned media and thought leadership; media planning and buying; and video production.
Founded in Israel, Moburst has focused on mobile and digital services, acquiring firms over the past five years to supplement other offerings. The agency noticed client requests for PR support over the past few years, said cofounder Lior Eldan, bringing them to Uproar.
Moburst began collaborating with Uproar in recent months on client projects and was impressed with the two firms’ synergies, so it decided to acquire the shop.
“We were mostly PR and thought leadership, media relations, a little bit of social, a little bit of influencer, but not the robust offering that your clients really want,” said Uproar COO Mike Harris. “At the same time, we were trying to figure out how do we offer everything in-house without trying to build everything from the ground up?”
“It was a great way to combine the two. There’s nothing missing on either end,” he added.
Uproar will now be known as Uproar by Moburst as the agency transitions under Moburst’s group of firms. Uproar will be Moburst’s PR division and will be led by Harris.
The Florida-based firm’s entire team will transition to Moburst, and the combined shop is hiring with plans for growth in the new year. The addition of Uproar also expands Moburst’s presence in the U.S., adding Orlando to its offices in New York City, Miami and San Francisco, as well as Tel Aviv and London.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Uproar PR was previously acquired in 2019 by Kanaris Group, a private buyer, that purchased the firm from founders Harris and his wife, Catriona Harris. Catriona Harris stayed on as CEO until March before moving into an advisory role.
At the time of the acquisition, Kanaris Group executive director Ermis Sfakiyanudis joined Uproar as executive chairman. As a result of the new deal, Sfakiyanudis will remain with Uproar as an adviser, but will not have a day-to-day operational role, according to Eldan.
Moburst was founded in 2013 in Israel and has worked with brands including Google, Discovery, Uber, Samsung and Barnes & Noble. The agency began to expand its operations in 2019, acquiring Israel-based studio Clutch, followed by development shop Layer in 2022. Uproar is Moburst’s third acquisition.
Moburst intends to continue acquiring one to two firms every year, according to Eldan.
Founded in 2011, Uproar specializes in providing PR services to clients across industries including technology, consumer products, lifestyle and healthcare. The agency offers services in media relations, social media, thought leadership and influencer marketing.
Clients in Uproar’s portfolio include the Orlando Museum of Art, Parkway Venture Capital, payment processing consultancy SwipeSum, fintech startup Worth, virtual reality platform Rendever and product packaging company Consumer Convenience Technologies.
