Seton Hall’s Multi-Year Banner SaaS Initiative Underway

Seton Hall University has officially kicked off its transition to Banner SaaS, a modern cloud-based platform from Ellucian that will help transform how the University
supports its students, faculty and staff. On July 28, senior representatives and department
heads from the Office of the Registrar, Department of Human Resources, Division of Finance, Office of the Provost, Office of Assessment, Office of Financial Aid, Division of Enrollment Services and Department of Information Technology gathered with the Ellucian team to launch this important initiative and begin the
collaborative work ahead. Seton Hall now joins more than 2,000 institutions worldwide
using Ellucian’s SaaS solutions to streamline operations, enhance service delivery
and create a more connected campus environment.
“I am excited to join the Seton Hall University Banner SaaS implementation team as
we launch the University’s most ambitious digital transformation in decades,” said
Paul Fisher, chief information officer, Department of Information Technology. “This initiative
positions Seton Hall for long-term institutional growth by modernizing our core systems
and creating the foundation for more responsive, technology-enabled services that
enhance the student experience across the University.”
This transition is a strategic move toward building a more agile, inclusive and data-informed
institution. By reducing manual processes, simplifying everyday tasks and fostering
more efficient systems, Banner SaaS will help the University focus on what matters
most: delivering empowering academic and support services to the entire campus community.
It reflects a broader culture shift toward collaboration, advancement and future-readiness.

SaaS project, marking the beginning of a meaningful journey toward transformation

The event brought everyone together to align on goals, build relationships and set

What’s Changing?
The Banner SaaS platform will eventually touch nearly every part of the University’s
operations. It is designed to be easier to use, more dependable, and better aligned
with the evolving needs of an evolving university community.
The new system will support key functions such as course registration, financial aid,
academic records, human resources and finance. By optimizing processes and improving
access to data, Banner SaaS will empower faculty and staff with the tools they need
to work more effectively and support students more meaningfully.
In addition to Banner SaaS, Seton Hall is implementing tools like Unimarket, Shorts
Travel Management and Collegiate Travel Planners through its broader Digital Transformation and ADAPT25 initiatives. Together, these projects will create a more integrated and adaptive
technology environment that enhances daily operations and supports the University’s
strategic vision for the future.
What’s Next?
The Banner SaaS project will be carefully planned and developed over the next two
years. Key efforts such as planning, testing and training will take place gradually
to ensure the University is fully prepared for a smooth and successful transition.
The joint effort leading up to the launch will be phased and intentional, with a focus
on minimizing disruption and supporting campus-wide readiness.
