Alumnus Leverages International Skills to Launch Career in Information Technology

Let us introduce you to Collin Isham, an alumnus of the Master of Arts program at
the School of Diplomacy and International Relations. Isham is now Director of Release Management with Oracle Health Government Services.
In this position, he oversees software release management, ensuring high-quality and
timely software deliveries to health care facilities.

Throughout his time at Seton Hall, Isham took full advantage of the University’s resources,
participating in research projects, internships and extracurricular activities that
enriched his learning experience. He interned with the Clinton Foundation, was the
deputy executive editor of the Journal of Diplomacy and wrote many articles in collaboration with faculty. In addition, Isham embraced
international learning opportunities that helped fuel his passion for global engagement.
During graduate school, he participated in academic programs in  Kosovo and Ethiopia,
gaining firsthand experience in international affairs.

“These experiences reinforced my desire to work abroad,” Isham shared recently. “I
had the opportunity to speak with influential leaders in the African Union and Kosovar
government, which not only broadened my perspective but also sharpened my ability
to formulate concise questions and hold meaningful conversations.”

Engaging with policymakers and diplomats deepened his understanding of global governance
and cross-cultural communication, skills that continue to shape Isham’s professional
journey. His time abroad exemplifies Seton Hall’s commitment to fostering globally
minded leaders and equipping students with real-world insights that extend far beyond
the classroom.

Isham’s inspiring journey is an example of how studying diplomacy and international
relations prepares individuals for careers in information technology, global communication
and program development. Isham emphasized the importance of continuous learning, networking
and seizing opportunities.

For Diplomacy students, he recommends that “no matter the field, if you are open to
opportunities and say ‘yes’ often, you can leverage the diverse education you are
receiving in international relations. Don’t pigeonhole yourself. Continue learning
and trying new things.”
